PERSONAL GROWTH

 confronting social anxiety

I learned that my greatest fear was not people themselves, but not believing that I could help others. I challenged myself to think differently.

 meeting multiple deadlines

At times I had responsibilities and deadlines with multiple departments and projects. I learned to be mindful of my impact on team-based work.

 clarity in communication

Solving problems usually required contact with several departments at once. I learned be upfront with my needs and to speak with minimal flourish.

 building relationships

Front-line library work is by nature very personal. Working in this position I built real friendships with my patrons and with my teammates.

 exceeding expectations

Once hired I recognized that I needed to stand out to keep my position with the library. I learned to ask for additional work as often as I could.
